JOB INFORMATION
The Bilingual High School Partnerships (HSP) Advising Associate provides developmental advising to current and prospective students on academic pre-requisites, transfer credits, degree requirements, course of study, academic problems, and possible solutions in programs. As well as assist with the preparation of materials and presentations and provides outreach and recruitment, and support advising to high school partnership programs. Please note the remote work is not an option for this role. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Advising & Student Success Maintains broad and current knowledge regarding college programs and services, graduation requirements, employment opportunities, financial aid and scholarship information, student support programs, college policies, and community partners and referral sources. Provides information for credit and non-credit seeking underage students on college programs, financial aid, registration, transfer programs, college transfer requirements, student success resources, CAMP/TRIO SSS students, community resources, services and strategies for success. Prepares for and gives group presentations, student orientations, workshops, college and career fairs, and other activities; assists in preparation and assemblage of materials for presentations, advising manuals, and other activities. Interviews students and reviews transcripts; evaluates high school and college transcripts for program completion; researches grade transcript problems; develops strategies for student support. Assists with college transitions processes for grant supported students. Data Collection & Reporting Inputs, utilizes and maintains computer data for registration. Creates, verifies and prepares detailed reporting for grant activities, identifies school involved, determines number of students by school, teacher and course; develops program promotional materials. Maintains all records according to established procedures. College & Community Communication Provides academic advising and information for programming; establishes and maintains relationships with department and counseling advisors to provide support and guidance to students in targeted program(s). Communicates with contracting school districts and college locations. Communicates with instructional staff and administrative staff regarding student progress. Other Functions May help with registration process, updates of program booklets and brochures, monitors credit standards, and provides input into curriculum development. CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
This level requires an equivalency of two (2) years of full-time work experience related to the essential functions and duties of the position listed above.
- AND•Bilingual English/Spanish•OR•Associates degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Science or Education.
- AND•
Bilingual English/Spanish Core Competencies:
Working knowledge of high school graduation requirements and college equivalencies. Excellent written and oral communication and math skills Documented ability to relate well to youth Demonstrated ability to work as a team member with other staff in decision making and planning situations Strong organizational skills Bilingual/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, education or a related field. One (1) year of professional-level experience providing advising, resource navigation, and guidance services to youth. Prior working experience advising High School to College transition programs. Prior working experience in a post-secondary or community college setting, a plus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a 100%, 11-month classified assignment at the 13 pay rate This position has a 6-month probationary period All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations If requested, requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment. Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
