Director of Academic Online Support ServicesGENERAL DESCRIPTION
As a member of the Academic Online Support Services department (AOSS), the Academic Success Coach (ASC) is responsible for the academic advising, development, and retention of students enrolled in online programs and courses. The ASC interacts with faculty, professional staff, students, and other program personnel to enhance and facilitate the progression, retention, and graduation of students. In addition, the academic advisor strives to ensure optimal student experiences and the highest level of student outcomes and sustained persistence measures are achieved.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Academic Success Coach (ASC) supports and guides the development of students enrolled in online degree programs with the goal of supporting students' academic goals and increasing institutional persistence and retention rates. The ASC achieves defined objectives by implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines and proactively fostering effective relationships and individualized mentorships to help students achieve their. The ASC maintains regular contact with students, using multiple communication platforms, such as phone, email, messaging, and video conferencing. Provides proactive academic and developmental advising for all online students. Facilitates and supports student progression and manages individualized student success plans. Proactively identify and develop plans of action for students exhibiting characteristics (grades, attendance, and/or personal barriers) that may put them academically at risk. Communicates concerns about student progress to the student, faculty members, the Director of Academic Online Support Services, and others as appropriate or necessary. Consistently stays engaged with students in order to promote success. Acts as a liaison for student(s) in matters related to academic appeals, grievances, and other concerns affecting a student's progress. Maintains relationship with key contacts at the university in order to keep the lines of communication open about what is best for the student. Aids in the research of best and high impact practices and the development of initiatives that ensures the success of students enrolled in online programs. About our ideal candidateQUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Experience in higher education, online learning, and/or student support preferred. Experience with student information systems preferred. Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and prioritize the needs of students. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to assist in the research and application of best and high impact practices for providing academic support for online students. Be comfortable working in teams and collaborating with others throughout the university. Works independently to meet expectations and deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to listen to all points of view in analyzing situations and to use sound judgment in the decision-making process. Possess a high comfort level with web-based, mobile, and PC applications, including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and the university's learning management system (LMS).OTHER REQUIREMENTS
