Job Description

Responsibilities of Aviation Veterans' Coordinator Assists current and former armed service members related to VA Chapters 30, 31, and 33 benefits, as well as evaluates students' DD Form 214 to provide students with educational credit for prior experience and training. Responsible for the coordination of veterans' education benefits, admissions, enrollment, advising, financial assistance, and transition resources to active-duty service members, veterans, and their families, as well as assisting with the retention and academic success of veteran students. Ensures student veterans have access to community, state, regional and national resources that assist the student veterans in obtaining their educational goals. Organizes and assists student veterans through enrollment process and employment. Develops long-range relationships with local business, to assist in tracking veterans success in trade certification and potential employment or apprenticeship opportunities. Serves as a professional resource to the college and the community with strategies for assisting student veterans. Serves as Veterans' Certifying Official for the College. Counsels veterans with completing applications for education benefits. Maintains veteran students' records. Prepares and submits VA certification and corrections. Coordinates the outreach, recruiting, and transition of veterans and their designee for benefits. Assists in the retention and academic success of veterans by screening and testing students for career and college placement. Assesses, monitors, and tracks the needs of the current student veteran population. Recommends and directs new initiatives according to identified needs. Ensures that all services are available to serve veterans including, but not limited to: Admissions, Academics, Enrollment, Student Engagement, Retention Services, Student Support Services, Student Records, and Financial Aid. Assists with developing and maintaining the database for awards made for Joint Service Transcript reviews to ensure consistency across time, military branches, and students' prior learning experiences. Coordinates with government/civilian agencies to meet the education/employment needs of the veterans student population. Performs other duties as assigned.
