MARTIN LUTHER HIGH SCHOOL JOB DESCRIPTION

Associate Athletic Director, other positions based on specific campus, as designated by the principal
Position Summary:
The Athletic Director leads the total athletics program within Martin Luther High School.
Philosophy:
Martin Luther High School is seeking an Athletic Director. The Athletic Director should ascribe to the Core Values of not only Martin Luther High School, but those of WeTeachTruth Lutheran Education. Qualifications:
  • A deep spiritual and personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
  • Member in good standing of the LCMS, roster preferred.
  • 5 years of previous experience in coaching or athletic administration, Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - oral and written.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Possess visionary leadership skills, is innovative, a strong team player, with an optimistic attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Essential Job Functions:
Athletic Leadership
  • Sets and implements a vision for Athletics in alignment with and supporting the mission, vision, and values of Martin Luther High School.
  • Works with Principal to hire, develop, evaluate, and make recommendations for the coaching staff.
  • Represents the school at all WIAA and conference meetings. Rules Compliance
  • Responsible for the administration of all facets of the interscholastic athletic program in compliance with the rules, policies, and procedures of the NHFS, WIAA, conference, and WeTeachTruth.
  • Rules and communicates eligibility for all athletes. Event Management
  • Major role, with assistance from administration, faculty, and staff, in game management.
  • Helps oversee building calendar.
  • Creates "freebie" list for yearly coordination of staff.
  • Coordinates staff for home events, including event supervision, officials, game workers, ticket sellers, and volunteers.
  • Develops transportation schedule for away events. Facilities Management
  • Works with the Director of Building and Grounds and the Maintenance staff to schedule, prepare, and maintain athletic facilities and equipment.
  • Responsibility in risk management analysis by identifying and correcting potential liability issues. Fiscal Responsibility
  • Responsible for fiscal oversight of the athletic program, including WTT Budget, Booster Club Budget, Sports Fees, and Gate Receipts. Other Leadership
  • Part of the Leadership Team which collaborates with the principal for overall ministry leadership.
  • Supervision of extra-curricular events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal.
Essential Job Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
  • Ability to create and maintain school communication and spreadsheets, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
