An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.
Job Summary Mexicayotl Academy of Excellence is seeking a dedicated and exceptional Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide continuity of instruction for our 3rd-4th grade Dual Language classroom while our full-time teacher is on leave. This is a temporary, full-time teaching position intended to continue until the regular classroom teacher is able to return. Mexicayotl Academy of Excellence has been recognized by the state of Arizona as a school performing in the top 10% among schools serving low-income student populations. The Long-Term Substitute Teacher will be responsible for maintaining a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment; delivering planned instruction; supporting student learning and academic growth; collaborating with school staff; and maintaining continuity for students during the regular teacher's absence.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Education or completing Education degree 100% Bilingual English/Spanish 2 years of recent full-time classroom experience as a teacher of record in any elementary grade from K to 6th grade fluency in the speaking, reading, and writing domains at a professional level in Spanish and English. Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. residents or ability to work in the U.S. Willing to be trained in the Mexicayotl dual language learning model Responsible for developing, submitting, and compiling lesson plans, projects, and activities as part of our intercultural curriculum that aligns to the AZ State standards, exit outcomes and pacing guides. This is a temporary, full-time independent contractor position. The individual selected for this role will be compensated on a 1099 basis for the duration of the long-term substitute assignment.
