An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.
Overview Emerge Berkeley Christian Academy is seeking a nurturing Kindergarten Teacher to lead a smaller, more intimate classroom, guiding young learners through their first formal school experience. This role focuses on building foundational literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills within a Christ-centered environment. Roles & Responsibilities Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons in early literacy, numeracy, and foundational skills. Foster social-emotional growth, classroom routines, and independence in young learners. Assess student progress through observation and age-appropriate assessments, providing regular feedback to families. Integrate a biblical worldview and Christian values throughout daily instruction and classroom life. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student development and milestones. Collaborate with other teachers and staff on curriculum planning and school-wide initiatives. Educational & Professional Requirements Must be at least 18 years old. Bachelor's degree and/or Multiple Subject teaching credential (CA) or Early Childhood Education background preferred. Prior experience teaching kindergarten or early childhood education strongly preferred. Must pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check and provide proof of legal work authorization. Must complete TB clearance prior to employment. Must complete mandated reporter training as a condition of employment. Faith-Based Requirements Agreement with EBCA's Statement of Faith.
