Weekend English Reading & Writing Teacher (PreK-Grade 2) iLearn Education - 4.3 Irvine, CA Job Details Part-time $25 - $40 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications School experience Teaching Certification English English reading comprehension training Bachelor's degree Elementary school teaching experience Full Job Description iLearn Education is seeking a patient, engaging, and reliable English teacher to teach reading and writing to students from Pre-K through Grade 2 at our Irvine campus. The ideal candidate has experience teaching young learners and is comfortable teaching the full range of early English literacy skills, including phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, sentence development, and beginning writing. This is primarily a weekend position. Saturday availability is required. Availability on Sundays and weekday afternoons after school is a strong plus. Responsibilities Teach English reading and writing to Pre-K through Grade 2 students Provide systematic instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, decoding, and spelling Develop students' reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension Teach sentence structure, grammar, handwriting, and beginning paragraph writing Select and use age-appropriate books, passages, and writing activities Create engaging, interactive lessons for young learners Manage small-group classes and maintain a positive, structured classroom Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents and the academic team Prepare lesson materials and follow the school's curriculum and teaching expectations Help students develop confidence and independence as readers and writers Qualifications Experience teaching reading and writing to Pre-K, kindergarten, first-grade, or second-grade students Strong knowledge of phonics and early literacy instruction is required Ability to teach both reading comprehension and age-appropriate writing Strong classroom-management skills with young children Patient, energetic, organized, and dependable Clear spoken and written English Ability to teach consistently onsite in Irvine Bachelor's degree required Teaching credential, early-childhood education background, or elementary-school teaching experience preferred Familiarity with structured phonics programs, guided reading, or multisensory literacy instruction is a plus Schedule Requirements Saturday or Sunday availability is required Weekday after-school availability is a plus Candidates should be available for a stable, ongoing teaching schedule rather than short-term or substitute work To Apply Please submit your résumé along with: Your Saturday and Sunday availability Any weekday after-school availability A brief description of your experience teaching early reading and writing The phonics, reading, or writing programs you have previously used
