An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Requirements Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings, demonstrating strong classroom experience. Knowledge of early childhood education principles, including child development instruction and preschool teaching methodologies. Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, behavior management, and classroom management techniques. Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention strategies, and literacy education methods. Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and community partners using excellent communication skills. Valid first aid and CPR certification; ongoing commitment to child safety standards. Understanding of mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and protection. Experience teaching physical education or math is a plus; familiarity with standardized testing is beneficial.
