An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, early intervention strategies, and classroom management techniques. Incorporate library services and literacy education strategies to foster reading skills and a love of books among students. Contribute to school-wide initiatives such as standardized testing preparation, tutoring programs, and extracurricular activities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field; teaching certification preferred. Proven experience teaching children in elementary or early childhood settings, including classroom experience at private schools or similar institutions. Strong knowledge of curriculum implementation across core subjects such as literacy, math, science, and social studies. Experience working with children with diverse learning needs, including those requiring special education or early intervention services. Proficiency in using educational technology tools for lesson planning, assessment, and classroom management. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents. Ability to adapt lessons based on individual learning styles and progress monitoring data. Skills in proofreading, writing skills for instructional materials, and curriculum development are highly valued.
