Elementary Teacher-Primary (K-5; Full-time). Boulware Springs Charter is a public, not-for-profit charter school located in northeast Gainesville and serves students in grades K-5. The educational program at Boulware Springs Charter reflects our belief that an education is more than the teaching of core subjects. We believe that a school, well connected with the home and the community, is a place for students to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. This position is responsible for promoting and developing successful instruction for students and performs related duties in accordance with school policies and terms of the teacher contract. The teacher will be responsible and maintain a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students. The teacher should be highly qualified, creative, provide innovative and rigorous instruction, and promote a healthy learning climate of respect, pride and community.
Starting Salary:
$48,000 - 53,000 (starting salary based on experience). $4,000 a year insurance stipend in addition to salary. Stipend can be spent on insurance, health care costs, medical payments, or can be considered extra salary. Merit bonuses for individual student gains in Math and Reading based on students' yearly growth Member of the Florida Retirement System (FRS); employer contribution 14.03%; employee contribution 3% Candidates must hold a valid Florida Teaching Certificate; Have teaching experience; strong classroom management; references
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plans a program of instruction that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students in collaboration with the classroom teacher and other personnel working with the student.
  • Works with the classroom teachers to develop a schedule for delivery of instruction and regularly communicates students' academic progress to classroom teachers.
  • Provides instruction individually, in small groups, or using a co-teach model by implementing lessons or instructional activities designed to meet the students' academic needs.
  • Performs limited clerical functions directly related to the instructional assignment for the purpose of instructing students
  • Collaborates with teachers in the use of assessment data to guide and differentiate instruction.
  • Monitors and records student progress
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Plan and effectively implement instructional activities designed to achieve the goals and objectives of the curriculum.
  • Provide a safe, nurturing environment that stimulates academic, moral, and social growth.
  • Meet with and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral form with students, parents, and others.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis to include academic and social growth of students.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records and inventories as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Assist in enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations, and school policy.
  • Implement a variety of instructional techniques to meet varying learning styles of students.
  • Assist students in learning to accept responsibility, demonstrate respect for people and property, and demonstrate self-discipline.
  • Assist with extracurricular activities as needed and appropriate.
  • Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Employees must pass a Level 2 background and fingerprinting check before employment.
