Position includes support facilitation, writing IEPs, and attending IEP meetings.
Summary:
To work in partnership with parents, students, and general education teachers in accordance with the school's mission and vision in order to promote student achievement. The following responsibilities and duties are required: Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university 2. Florida Certified in Exceptional Student Education or FL Teaching Certificate with the intention of pursuing an ESE Certificate 3. Successful results of criminal and employment background check 4. Experience with ESE and IEPs preferred Special Education Responsibilities 1. Delivers student instruction in modalities instituted by school and assigned program (may include but are not limited to: Individual or Group Direct Instruction, Learning Support, Life Skills Support, Itinerant Support, Resource Room Support, co-teaching, writing lesson plans, telephone conferencing and instruction, Parent Learning Opportunities, and attendance/participation at IEP and 504 meetings or other staff meetings as required. 2. Plans and conducts appointments with parents as needed. 3. Assists regular education teachers with specially designed instruction when necessary. 4. Provides support for ESE student achievement in the general class through training teachers and assisting with implementation of school inclusion plans. Palm Beach Maritime Academy (PBMA) is an accredited K-12 charter school celebrating 26 years of excellence. Grades K-12 are accredited by Cognia. PBMA integrates maritime studies and marine science with the Florida State Standards through a variety of methods, which include many hands-on classroom experiences and field trips for all students. Our field trips include Loxahatchee River Center, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, Resource Depot and Busch Wildlife Preserve, as well as to perform a variety of age-appropriate experiments and see first-hand what the environment has to teach us. Students also visit numerous other destinations including the Broward and Palm Beach County Museums of Science, the Everglades, the Kravis Center, Jupiter Lighthouse, and a myriad of other locations. Students participate in the "Coastal Clean-up", Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) competitions, The Dania Beach Plywood Regatta where students have the opportunity to build boats and other community events such as the "Lake Worth Street Painting Festival".
