An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Requirements Proven experience working with children in early childhood settings such as preschool or daycare environments. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in preschool teaching. Experience with curriculum development, literacy education, math instruction, and physical education for young learners. Familiarity with special education needs, early intervention strategies, behavior management techniques, and classroom management skills. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and administrators. Ability to follow mandated reporting laws and uphold child welfare standards diligently. First aid certification including CPR is required or must be obtained upon hire. Demonstrated ability to plan lessons that incorporate child development instruction tailored to individual needs.
