POSITION DUTIES:

The Elementary Science Teacher performs the following duties: Plan and implement an engaging, hands-on science program across multiple scientific disciplines for elementary school students using a variety of teaching methods, including experiments, projects, and technology. Instruction must align with Florida's education standards (B.E.S.T.) and the Hillsborough County Public schools curriculum. Guide students in developing skills for scientific inquiry, problem solving and critical thinking. Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment. Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards using formal and informal assessments, assignments and projects. Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to align curriculum and share best practices. Participate in ongoing professional growth activities and in-service education provided by the school and district to stay current with subject matter knowledge and learning theory. Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grades, and perform other assigned duties such as supervising students during out of classroom activities.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors Degree in any Natural Science Field and 12 months of experience as Elementary Science Teacher

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of a Level 2 background check. Employer will accept a foreign degree evaluated to be the equivalent of any US awarded natural sciences degree. Must be qualified to teach in the State of Florida holding either a valid teaching certificate or eligibility to teach in private school under guidance issued by Florida Department of Education.
