An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Organization Details Organization Information Martin County School District has three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Martin County Schools also supports one Area Technical Center. Total student population is approximately 1900 students. Enrollment numbers include approximately 1019 elementary students, 400 middle school students and 551 high school students. The school district has experienced a downward trend in student population in the last 15 years. Based on the most current assessment data and school designations, , Eden Elementary is a progressing school, Inez Elementary is a Distinguished school, Warfield Elementary is a Progressing School, Martin County Middle School is Progressing, and Sheldon Clark High School is a Distinguished school. The district will continue to lead and support schools with improvement initiatives.
