An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

TeacherCoburn Elementary SchoolEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies that engage students at a high level
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established district and state curriculum standards
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress and achievement
- Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports effective teaching and learning
- Create a safe, structured and positive classroom environment which is responsive to student diversity, utilizing positive behavior interventions and strategies
- Regularly communicate student progress with parents/caregivers
- Maintain accurate records
- Participate in ongoing professional development/training
- Attend required faculty/staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
- SEI endorsement
- Massachusetts Elementary Certification required
