Elementary Physical Education Teacher

Mountain Valley Community School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Elementary Physical Education Teacher to join our dedicated PK-8 learning community. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about promoting lifelong health and wellness while creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment where every child can succeed.

The successful candidate will:

Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate physical education instruction aligned with the Maine Learning Results.

Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and respect.

Develop students' motor skills, physical fitness, and understanding of healthy lifestyles through engaging and varied activities.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

Utilize assessment data to monitor student growth and inform instruction.

Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, special educators, interventionists, and related service providers to support student success.

Establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Integrate social-emotional learning, cooperation, and problem-solving into physical education instruction.

Maintain a safe and organized gymnasium and physical education equipment.

Participate as an active member of the school community through professional learning, team meetings, and school events.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification with appropriate endorsement in Physical Education (510).
  • Knowledge of best instructional practices in elementary physical education.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
