An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

REQUIRMENTS
Meet Current State of Michigan teacher certification requirements for the position/grade-level
PREFERRED
Art major/minor Successful (effective or better) elementary teaching experience
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Manistique Area Schools teachers are responsible for individual and grade-level/department lesson and unit planning, the delivery of instruction, assessment design, and timely and specific feedback at the appropriate grade level in the assigned discipline; timely and proper maintenance of records and meeting the needs of all students assigned. Works closely with other teachers and staff. Reports to building principal and other administrators as applicable.
RATE OF PAY
