An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Duties Develop and implement creative, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and social skills. Engage children in hands-on activities that support child development instruction, including language acquisition, motor skills, and social-emotional learning. Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum enhancements and participate in ongoing professional development related to special education, early intervention, and childhood development. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones through meetings and written updates. Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and maintain accurate records of student progress and assessments. Support children's physical well-being by administering first aid and CPR when necessary, following health and safety protocols. Qualifications Proven experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings, demonstrating strong classroom experience. Knowledge of curriculum development, literacy education, math instruction, and behavior management techniques suitable for young learners. Familiarity with special education practices, early intervention strategies, and childhood development principles. Certification in first aid and CPR required; ongoing professional development in early childhood education preferred. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners. Ability to manage a classroom effectively while fostering a positive learning environment that supports child welfare.
