An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE ELEMENTARY TEACHER VACANCY
The following position is posted in accordance with the negotiated agreement:
POSITION
1.0 FTE Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teacher
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION
NYS Certification Childhood Education Gr. 1-6 REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, engaging instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards.
  • Strong understanding of foundational literacy and mathematics skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners.
  • Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment.
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to use student data to inform instruction and monitor student progress.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, families, and administrators.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and contributing positively to the school community.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to NYS Learning Standards.
  • Create a positive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and a love of learning.
  • Support children's social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet students' various developmentally appropriate needs.
  • Maintain effective classroom management and establish clear routines and expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in grade-level, school, and district professional development opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive, hands-on, and welcoming environment that values diversity and equity.

Compensation as per District/AFA Collective Bargaining Agreement
