An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Position Title Elementary Teacher - Long-Term Substitute Required Application Type Teacher / Admin Salary/Pay Scale $245/day Job Description Elementary Teacher - Long-Term Substitute Anticipated September 2026 through March 2027, with potential for a full-year appointment Livonia Central School District anticipates several elementary long-term substitute teaching needs during the 2026-2027 school year. The District is seeking a flexible, student-centered elementary educator who may be interested in completing one, several, or all of the anticipated assignments. Anticipated Assignments First grade long-term substitute assignment, anticipated September through November Prekindergarten long-term substitute assignment, anticipated October through December Fourth-grade long-term substitute assignment, anticipated January through March Additional substitute teaching needs may arise based on staffing and student needs The anticipated dates are approximate and subject to change. Because some assignments may overlap, the District may hire more than one candidate or work with selected candidates to determine the assignments that best align with their availability, certification, experience, and interests. Potential Full-Year Opportunity Depending on the interest and availability of the selected candidate, the District may offer a full-year appointment. During periods when the employee is not serving in a long-term substitute assignment, the individual would serve as a building substitute and provide instructional coverage and support throughout the elementary school. Job Qualifications Candidates should have: effective collaborative and leadership skills in order to work in a team setting experience implementing behavior support plans on a regular and consistent basis strong problem-solving skills to support student success a proactive and solution-focused approach to meeting student needs Appropriate NYS Certification - Preference Given to Candidates with B-2 and 1-6 Certifications Application Procedure
