An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Job Description

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Permanent Substitute Elementary Teacher (Grades K-5) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential.
REQUIREMENTS
NYS Certification (relevant certification). Certification must be from New York State.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The substitute teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum. Facilitate, execute or carry out lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on available lesson plan. Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Adaptability and flexibility to work in various classrooms and grade levels. Proficiency in computer skills and school/classroom educational technology
