An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, academically rigorous lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards and Our Lady of Victory's instructional philosophy. Foster a classroom culture that supports students in developing their Catholic identity, responsible autonomy, and ownership of their learning. Create meaningful literacy experiences that cultivate a lifelong love of reading and writing. Implement differentiated instruction, including station rotation and other blended learning models, to meet the needs of all learners. Utilize Google Classroom and other digital learning tools to manage assignments, communication, and instructional resources. Assess student learning regularly, analyze assessment data, and use results to inform instruction and provide timely feedback. Establish and maintain clear classroom expectations that promote a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, ensure student mastery of standards, and support school-wide initiatives. Build positive relationships with families through regular communication, conferences, and phone calls. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events. Support the mission and values of Catholic education in all aspects of school life. Qualifications New York State Teaching Certification required (or eligible for certification). Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two years of full-time classroom teaching experience preferred, particularly in grades PreK-5. Strong knowledge of elementary literacy instruction, the ELA curriculum, and evidence-based instructional practices. Experience with differentiated instruction, station rotation, and blended learning models. Proficiency with Google Classroom and other educational technology platforms. Excellent communication, collaboration, classroom management, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, challenged, and inspired to learn. Strong commitment to student achievement, professional growth, and the mission of Catholic education. CPR Certification preferred.
