Job Description

Technology Teacher — Laurel Hill School Part-Time, per diem - 2 days per week during school year - 10-Months (2026-2027 School Year) On-Campus |
East Setauket, NY Start Date:
August 24th, 2026 About Laurel Hill School Laurel Hill School is an independent school serving students from preschool through Grade 8 on Long Island. We're small on purpose. Our teachers know their students — their strengths, their worries, and what a hard week looks like for them — and that knowledge is the thing our families value most. We're hiring a part-time Technology Teacher to run our technology program: someone who can make two days a week count — classes students look forward to, skills that stick, and a clear-eyed approach to raising kids well in a digital world. What you'll do Plan, prepare, and deliver weekly technology classes across Kindergarten through Grade 8 Build age-appropriate units in digital literacy, keyboarding, coding, and creative computing — from first mouse-and-keyboard skills in the early years through more ambitious projects in Middle School Teach digital citizenship and online safety at every level, pitched to the age in front of you Differentiate instruction across the range of learners in each class Partner with classroom teachers on integrating technology into their own lessons and projects Keep accurate, current records of student progress, and submit weekly lesson plans by Monday morning Keep the technology classroom and its equipment organized and ready to teach in (this is a teaching role — IT support and device management are not part of it) Supervise students during transitions and other periods as assigned on your teaching days What we're looking for Required Bachelor's degree Experience teaching technology, computer science, or related subjects to children Comfort working across a wide age range in a single teaching day Ability to pass all pre-employment screening, including background checks Preferred New York State teaching certification (Educational Technology Specialist, Computer Science, or a related title) Experience in an elementary or middle-school setting Familiarity with classroom coding platforms and robotics tools What makes someone thrive here: genuine enthusiasm kids can feel, patience with tangled logins and lost passwords, and the judgment to teach technology as a tool for making things — not just consuming them. Compensation & Benefits Salary is commensurate with experience. Laurel Hill School offers a full benefits package and a collaborative, professionally supportive environment.
