Calvary Chapel Christian Academy is building a strong candidate pool for current and upcoming elementary classroom needs. We are seeking dependable, mission-aligned teachers who are committed to serving students with excellence, consistency, structure, and care. The Elementary Teacher provides Christ-centered, academically strong, and developmentally appropriate instruction for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Grade-level placement will be based on academy needs, applicant experience, and classroom fit. This role requires a teacher who can plan well, teach clearly, manage the classroom with consistency, communicate professionally, and help students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Responsibilities include:
Plan and deliver daily instruction aligned to Abeka curriculum, approved lesson plans, and Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs) Create a classroom environment that is structured, safe, engaging, respectful, and Christ-centered Prepare weekly lesson plans, learning objectives, assessments, instructional materials, and classroom activities Teach reading, writing, math, Bible, science, social studies, and other assigned subjects as needed Use clear instructional routines, including opening activities, direct instruction, guided practice, independent practice, and checks for understanding Use formative assessments, exit tickets, quizzes, student work, and classroom observations to monitor student growth Adjust instruction, pacing, and reteaching based on student performance and assessment data Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for all students Provide appropriate support for students who need additional help, intervention, structure, or encouragement Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, student progress, parent communication, and classroom concerns Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, staff, and academy leadership Partner with administration and instructional coaches to strengthen classroom instruction Participate in required meetings, professional development, PLCs, coaching sessions, and school events Receive feedback with humility and implement instructional support in a timely manner Maintain a clean, organized, and prepared classroom Follow all academy policies, child safety expectations, confidentiality requirements, supervision standards, and classroom procedures Model Christ-centered character in speech, conduct, decision-making, and care for students Support the Christian mission and values of
Calvary Chapel Christian Academy Instructional Expectations:
Teachers at Calvary Chapel Christian Academy are expected to provide intentional, structured, and aligned instruction. Lesson plans should reflect approved curriculum, Virginia standards, clear learning targets, and appropriate assessment plans. Teachers should be prepared to teach what is planned, monitor student understanding, and adjust instruction when students need additional support. Teachers are also expected to use strong classroom routines, active student engagement, guided practice, independent practice, and regular checks for understanding. Instruction should be purposeful, organized, and focused on student growth.

Qualifications:
Elementary teaching experience preferred Experience with Abeka curriculum preferred Knowledge of Virginia Standards of Learning preferred Bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred Christian school, private school, public school, homeschool, ministry, or classroom teaching experience considered Strong classroom management, lesson planning, communication, and organizational skills Ability to teach with clarity, warmth, structure, and high expectations Ability to work well with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership Must be dependable, professional, teachable, and student-focused Must be willing to participate in coaching, professional development, and ongoing instructional growth Must complete required background checks and onboarding requirements Must be aligned with the mission and values of
Calvary Chapel Christian Academy Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly compensation is available, and salary may be considered based on experience, credentials, role fit, and academy needs. Full-time positions include employer-paid health coverage, including HSA contributions, PTO available from day one, and approximately five paid weeks off per year, including major paid holidays. Benefits apply to full-time employees only.
Schedule:
Full-time opportunities may be available based on academy needs. Grade-level placement will be determined based on academy needs, applicant experience, and classroom fit.
