Job Description

The Department of Civil Engineering (CVE) in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applicationsfor a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate or full professor level commencing in Fall Semester 2027. Thesuccessful candidate for the regular position will be expected to establish a high level, active research program supported by internal andexternal funding sources. The visiting faculty position are primarily focused on teaching. The visiting position is a one-year renewablecontract and the regular position is a three-year renewable contract. The applicant is required to have a PhD in Civil Engineering ora closely related field and show evidence of a significant teaching portfolio. Excellence in teaching and research, in addition toexperience in the American model of higher education, are highly desirable. Applicants for the regular position should be in the specialtyof construction engineering and management and/or digital construction. Applicants for the visiting position can be in any specialty withincivil engineering. Applicants should fill out an application form and upload the required documents (PDF) using the following link . Only shortlisted candidates will becontacted. The Department of Civil Engineering has approximately 150 undergraduate students, 65 graduate students, 15 full-timefaculty and 2 lab instructors. Students and faculty represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities; approximately 90 nationalities arepresent on campus. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Digital ConstructionEngineering and Management, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Construction Management, and a PhD in Civil andEnvironmental Engineering. AUS is located in the Emirate of Sharjah (about 15 km from Dubai). AUS is an independent, not-for-profit,coeducational university, serving more than 5,700 students. AUS is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of theMinistry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates.
