Adjunct, Literature and Communication University of MountUnion Salary:
Location:
Description The Department of Literature andCommunication Arts at the University of Mount Union is seeking a part-time instructor for creative writing courses in the fall of 2026 and,potentially, for the spring of 2027 and beyond. Specifically, for the fall we are interested in someone who can teach upper-division poetrywriting and introduction to creative writing (multi-genre). The fall courses are planned for MWF from 11:15-1:35 and have students enrolled,but days and times after fall are negotiable. This is a part-time, non-tenured position. Responsibilities Adjunctfaculty will work primarily under direction of the Chair of the Department of Literature and Communication Arts.
Responsibilitiesinclude:
Provide instruction in accordance with University and Department defined policies Maintain office hours andcommunicate with students on an ongoing basis Maintain accurate electronic records as per University and Department programrequirements Submit all records as required Keep current in the discipline/area of teaching Participationin training and technologies as necessary to facilitate course delivery Hires are required to complete assigned compliancetraining as communicated by the University Qualifications The candidate must possess a master's degree in English orWriting with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits in a discipline relevant to the area in which they will be teaching.
PreferredQualifications:
Teaching experience at the college-level A record of successful publication in at least one creativegenre Knowledge and use of Learning Management Systems (specifically D2L Brightspace) The ability to teach during theday is preferred. Online, evening, or hybrid teaching may be an option. The selected candidate will be required to provideofficial transcripts within 30 days of employment. Transcripts should be provided for the highest earned degree and/or the degree which isbeing used to satisfy credential/qualification requirements.
