Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Must pass a state or local assessment of basic skills, or has completed two years of college, or has an A.A. degree. One to two years of experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred. Ability to type and use computer a plus. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with students, teachers, parents, and staff. Able to obtain or possess an Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Reports to: Teacher to whom assigned
Job Goal:
To assist the teacher in providing a well-organized and effective classroom environment where the student with special needs may take full advantage of the instructional program.
Performance Responsibilities:
Develops daily lesson plans and activities under the direction of a teacher. Works with 1-5 students under the direction of the teacher. Prepares and uses a variety of instructional materials under the supervision of the teacher such as worksheets, practice exercises, games, and instructional aids. Assists teacher with record-keeping tasks such as attendance, grading, etc. Monitors the students' activities such as test taking, cafeteria, playground, field trips, etc. Types materials as necessary, uses copy machine, and uses computer to effectively assist teacher. Participates in in-service training as required. Performs other related duties as required.
Terms of Employment:
10 months. Salary established by the Governing Board. Employee benefits in accordance with district policies.
