(ELD) TEACHER The English Language Development (ELD) Teacher is responsible for instructing English Language Learners (ELs) in reading, speaking, listening, and writing to help them achieve grade-level proficiency across all subject areas. An ideal candidate would have strong knowledge of English grammar and structure, along with proven methodologies for teaching English to non-native speakers. They also would have strong knowledge of the WIDA English Language Development standards and ACCESS testing to support student growth.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required Valid Massachusetts teacher certification in English as a Second Language SEI Endorsement Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities:
Teach and implement the WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards using approved language instruction methods Develops clear and comprehensive lesson plans that have clear objectives Employs a variety of instructional techniques that are tailored to the instructional needs and capabilities of the students Co-teach in general education classrooms when needed to support integrated learning Work closely with classroom teachers to scaffold and support students' access to grade-level content Assessment, Progress Monitoring, and Record-Keeping Administer the ACCESS English language proficiency test Monitor student progress and develop plans to support students Foster a safe inclusive classroom that is conducive to learning and aligned to Standards I & II on the teacher evaluation rubric Salary commensurate with related experience.
