The
MTSS ELA
Intervention Teacher delivers targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading and literacy instruction to students identified as performing below grade-level expectations. The role is non-homeroom and intervention-only: the teacher works with small groups and individual students on a pull-out or push-in schedule rather than carrying a full course load. The position sits inside TMSA's Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework and is accountable for measurable growth on universal screening and progress-monitoring data. The teacher partners closely with classroom teachers, the MTSS team, and EC staff to ensure interventions are implemented with fidelity and that referral decisions are supported by evidence.

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree Current North Carolina teaching license, or be in the process of obtaining Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required Essential Duties and Responsibilities Intervention Delivery Provide daily Tier 2 and Tier 3 ELA intervention to small groups, typically 3 to 6 students, in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Implement TMSA-adopted intervention programs with fidelity, following prescribed scope, sequence, and session length. Differentiate instruction based on diagnostic results and adjust grouping as student needs change. Maintain an intervention schedule that minimizes disruption to core instruction. Assessment, Data, and Progress Monitoring Administer universal screeners and diagnostic assessments at required benchmark windows. Progress-monitor Tier 2 students at least every two weeks and Tier 3 students weekly, recording results in the designated data system. Analyze data to determine whether students should continue, intensify, or exit intervention. Prepare data summaries for MTSS team meetings, parent conferences, and EC referral consideration. MTSS Team Collaboration Participate in scheduled MTSS problem-solving and data review meetings. Consult with classroom teachers on Tier 1 literacy strategies and in-class supports. Coordinate with the EC department, school counselor, and ESL staff so that supports align and do not duplicate. Communicate student progress to families in clear, non-technical language. Compliance and Documentation Maintain accurate intervention logs, attendance records, and fidelity checks as required by state and network policy. Support compliance with North Carolina Read to Achieve requirements where applicable to the assigned grade band. Contribute documentation needed for EC referrals, 504 plans, and student support files. Complete required professional development, including literacy and Science of Reading training. Other Fulfill campus duty assignments such as arrival, dismissal, and lunch coverage as assigned by the Principal. Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the position.
Note:
The minimum starting salary shown includes a $6,000 incentive for the NC educator license. Unlicensed applicants are ineligble for the license salary incentive.
