Overview:

Gifted and talented teachers use researched based screeners and assessments to determine eligibility and needs of gifted and talented students. Gifted and Talented Teachers prepare and execute advanced and rigorous lessons and curriculum to enrich and enhance students' learning experience.

Prerequisites/Requirements:

Valid New York State Gifted Education Extension Certificate

Minimum of three years satisfactory classroom teaching experience.

Gifted and Talented Teaching Experience preferred

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge in the principles of Gifted and Talented Education

Knowledge of gifted assessments

Knowledge of strategies for gifted and talented instruction

Proficient in lesson planning and curriculum planning

Skillful in interpreting data

Prepare lessons with a variety of instructional techniques and technology that meet the needs of Gifted and Talented students

Travel as required to meet program requirements

Participate in Gifted and Talented Professional Learning Community

Maintain student records

Effectively communicate with parents

Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
