Full Job Description Description:
Summary:
The successful Upper School English teacher candidate is a committed educator who has experience with upper school grades and will challenge students to perform at their best, while engaging them to approach reading and writing in a thoughtful and imaginative way.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain Duchesne's excellent writing and literature program. Develop and implement lesson plans and assessment tools. Learn and leverage technology in instruction. Maintain accurate student records (e.g., attendance, grades, etc.) Work collaboratively with faculty and other members of the school community, as required. Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings and activities. Other duties assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements:
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in English or related subject. Master's degree preferred . Two years of experience teaching upper school students. Demonstrated expertise in the areas of literature and teaching of analytical and critical thinking, grammar, reading, and writing. Proven knowledge of current pedagogical theory and practice.

Empathetic to the needs of students and families. Upon Hiring Successful completion of fingerprint-based background investigation and sexual offender registry information checks. Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training. Current CPR certification. Demonstrate appropriate planning and preparation and fulfill routine responsibilities in a thoughtful and timely manner. Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, professional courtesy, discretion, punctuality and attendance at all required meetings and events. Appropriately carry out specific duties as determined by the Head of School and/or supervisor. Maintain professional credentials and complete required training. Participate in and provide documentation for at least one professional development opportunity per year in addition to those required and provided by the school. Respect the confidentiality of the school, its employees, students, and families. Comply with the policies and procedures as articulated in the faculty and staff handbook. Authentically engage in the school's self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
