Job Description

Call for Adjunct Faculty Member in Comparative Religious Ethics and World Religions United is searching for additional adjunct faculty (one or more) to teach in our growing programs. Courses include Comparative Religious Ethics and could also include World Religions and/or Introduction to Religious Texts . Successful applications will have demonstrated experience in teaching (including asynchronous online teaching) and will have earned terminal degrees in the field (Ph.D. in Ethics, World Religions, or Comparative Religion with specialization in comparative religious ethics or world religions). Payment is $4,000 per 3-credit course (terms are twelve weeks in length). Adjunct faculty can be remote (residency in the Twin Cities not required); living in the United States and eligible to work in the U.S. is required. Transcripts required upon hire. Course Description for upcoming need (fall term): EJ1002 Comparative Religious Ethics 3 Credits. This course introduces students to ethical traditions in world religions. The course will give primary attention to challenges and opportunities of comparative moral inquiry across the "major" world religions of Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism, but will also invite exploration of American Indian traditions, among others. Discussion of case studies and specific ethical topics will direct the comparative study. The course is an opportunity to explore the diversity of approaches to religious ethics, to engage the practical significance of religious reflection on moral action, and to analyze one's own moral experience.
