Job Summary Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring for a part-time/student worker for the role of Undergraduate Research Peer Mentor working in our STEM Center of Excellence. This position serves as a vital link between EMCC students and the college's Undergraduate Research Experience (URE) program, playing a key role in supporting this program and other experiential learning initiatives across campus. - Provide peer mentorship and direct support to students participating in the URE program or who are interested in the Undergraduate Research or experiential learning. 20%
- Greet students and log students in and out for center usage; provides clerical assistance; performs data entry. 20%
- Assist with classroom presentations, support workshops, and outreach about experiential learning, and may be involved in supporting campus tours and other campus promotional efforts and other student success activities.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Minimum of six (6) college credit hours completed AND enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours in fall and spring Desired Qualifications Minimum of 12 college credit hours completed with a C or better Eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS) Financial Aid Experience participating in a URE project (or similar faculty-led research project outside of class) for at least one semester Experience successfully mentoring peers or diverse students in STEM or other fields Experience with Google Apps Suite or similar software Experience working in a team oriented environment Special Working Conditions This position involves public speaking, mentoring students, and conducting study sessions. May require occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
