Job Description

Classroom assistant needed for private special education school for students with multiple and physical disabilities who are medically-fragile. Hours are 8:30 a.m.
  • 3:30 p.
m, Monday-Friday. The ideal candidate would be willing to be assigned as a 1:1 assistant for a particular student, if necessary. The position can be physically-demanding. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and have a willingness to learn and use new technology.
Duties include:
  • Assist the teacher with preparation of materials and carrying out lessons.
  • Provide assistance to students who need additional help.
  • Assist the students in bathroom, i.e. diapering, toilet training, and toilet routines. This requires a significant amount (2-3 times per day) of lifting every day.
  • Assist with leisure activities and carrying out therapy recommendations.
  • Assist with mealtime.
Criminal history and background check required.
