Kiddie Academy of Lancaster is seeking a dependable, organized, and experienced Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership position designed for someone who enjoys both working directly with children and teachers and helping keep the administrative side of a busy child care center organized and compliant. The position is approximately 25 hours per week providing classroom and program support and 15 hours per week dedicated to administrative responsibilities . What You'll Do Classroom & Program Support - Approximately 25 Hours/Week Our Assistant Director will be an active presence throughout the Academy and will help our classrooms succeed by: Assisting with behavior management and helping teachers implement consistent, developmentally appropriate strategies Stepping into classrooms that need additional leadership or support Modeling positive teacher-child interactions and strong classroom management Helping maintain safe, engaging, structured classroom environments Building relationships with children, families, and staff throughout the Academy Providing classroom coverage to maintain required staff-to-child ratios Covering teacher breaks, lunches, planning time, and absences as needed Supporting teachers during the day and classroom transitions This position is not intended to be permanently assigned to one classroom. The Assistant Director should be comfortable moving throughout the building and supporting the areas of greatest need. Administrative Responsibilities - Approximately 15 Hours/WeekAdministrative responsibilities will include: Maintaining accurate and compliant child files Monitoring required paperwork, health records, emergency contact forms, permissions, and expiration/update dates Following up with families regarding missing or outdated documentation Assisting with enrollment and new-family paperwork Supporting licensing and regulatory compliance Reviewing classroom documentation and helping ensure required records are complete Assisting with staff scheduling and daily ratio planning as needed Supporting parent communication and follow-up Helping administration maintain an organized, compliant, and well-run center Assisting the Director and ownership with other operational responsibilities as needed What We're Looking For The right person for this position is someone who can comfortably move between classroom leadership and administrative responsibility . We are looking for someone who is: Warm, professional, and confident with children and families Strong at classroom and behavior management Comfortable coaching and supporting teachers Organized and attentive to details and deadlines Reliable and willing to step in wherever support is needed Able to communicate professionally with parents and coworkers Calm and solutions-oriented when a classroom is having a difficult day Comfortable holding staff accountable while maintaining positive working relationships Able to prioritize competing needs in a fast-paced child care environment Qualifications Associate degree required Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field strongly preferred Previous experience working in a licensed child care center, preschool, or early childhood program preferred Previous leadership, administrative, or supervisory experience preferred Must meet all Pennsylvania child care employment and background-clearance requirements Must be comfortable working directly in classrooms with children of varying ages

Pay:
$20.00 per hour Schedule will generally fall within the Academy's operating hours and will be structured around both classroom coverage needs and dedicated administrative time.
