Wed Sep 9 2026 Potential Adjunct Faculty Application submission to the part time adjunct faculty pool is open to qualified and competent experts, who possess skills, education, and experience in academic and/or professional areas. All part time faculty are responsible for providing our students with a high quality learning environment, while utilizing their focused expertise and experience in their individual classrooms, laboratories, and online platforms. Adjunct Faculty Postings are for potential part-time, non-benefited, positions during the 2024-2025/ 2025-2026 academic years. Applications for adjunct positions will be held in applicant pools by discipline which, whenever a position opens up in any given discipline, will be consulted when searching for candidates to fill the position. Applicants for adjunct positions will not be notified of their status unless they are contacted to come in for an interview, which might occur soon after applying or as much as a year later. Adjunct applicants are encouraged to indicate their availability by completing the Adjunct Faculty Questionnaire. Responsibilities Assigns, supervises, plans experiences and evaluates students in pre-clinical and clinical learning environments based on course and program student learning outcomes;

Provides support, guidance and instruction on all aspects of patient care in the clinical setting;

Demonstrate procedures and patient care in clinical or laboratory dental hygiene settings;

Assures safe dental hygiene care is provided for an individuals or group of individuals;

Provide the student with relevant and timely feedback concerning both the care of patients and written work submitted to the instructor;

Maintains expertise in area of clinical specialization with ongoing professional development and/or fieldwork;

Works effectively as part of the overall department demonstrating positive interpersonal relationships, communication skills, and collaboration with other faculty members and clinical staff to meet departmental and student needs;

Promotes high standards of professional dental hygiene practice;

Submit weekly student attendance sheets in accordance with dental department timeframes;

Utilizes technological course components such as BlackBoard and Dentrix as directed by course syllabi;

Responds promptly to student and faculty emails, department notifications and attendance roster requests from the records department using MWCC assigned email;

Maintains faculty requirements and faculty file updates annually. (CORI/SORI, drug screening, fingerprinting, MA RN license verification, liability and health insurance, MA DPH Health requirements, physical exam, evidence of scholarship, and CPR certification);

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field;
  • Minimum of three years of dental hygiene clinical practice;
  • Sound knowledge of the current periodontal assessment guidelines (AAP);
  • Sound knowledge of federal and state regulation policies and guidelines (CDC, OSHA, DPH);
  • Active member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association;
  • Massachusetts's Permit-L, local anesthesia license or ability to obtain;
  • Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing licensed in the state of Massachusetts or ability to obtain a license in the state of Massachusetts; CPR certified at Health Care Provider level. Desired Qualifications Master's Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of dental hygiene clinical practice with periodontally involved patients.
  • Experience working with Blackboard or other online learning management systems.
  • Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and philosophy.
  • Evidence of understanding and appreciation for diversity and multiculturalism.
  • Integration of computer technology into instruction.
  • Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities, including adult learners. Equivalency Statement
