Yes Department Overview The OHSU Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking a full-time physician to join our team at Adventist Health Portland (AHP). The Adventist Health Portland emergency department serves a largely urban population on the east side of Portland, caring for over 50,000 patient visits per year. The department serves many at-risk communities, including diverse nationalities and recent immigrants. AHP receives the highest number of cardiac arrest resuscitations in Multnomah County and has very active stroke and cardiac programs. The ED works closely with the hospitalist service, fostering strong collaboration and patient care coordination. This is also a learning site with regular medical student rotations, providing ample teaching opportunities. The department has initiated a research agenda and is currently participating in the ICE-CAP study, focused on CNS cooling and recovery from cardiac arrest. The schedule includes nine 8-hour physician shifts daily and two 10-hour Advanced Practice (NP/PA) shifts daily. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-acuity emergency care, engage in teaching, and participate in meaningful research within a supportive and collaborative team environment. Function/Duties of Position Staffing the Adventist Health Portland Emergency Department as assigned by the Chair; participation in education of medical and paramedic students, house staff and nurses; participating in Emergency Department quality assurance activities.
Required Qualifications Education:
MD or equivalent;
Emergency Medicine Residency Certificate Experience:
Knowledge, training and experience in clinical and academic
Emergency Medicine Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software. Licenses:
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required; ABEM or ABOEM Board certified or board eligible A qualified candidate must have a current unlimited Oregon MD (or equivalent) license prior to start date. The provider must complete the credentialing process and be approved by the OHSU Professional Board to practice as an independent practitioner in an acute care/emergency setting. The provider must be registered with Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and be authorized to prescribe medications prior to start date. PI283951863
