Job Description

The Coordinator of Fraternity & Sorority Life advances the educational mission of Arkansas Tech University by fostering student success, engagement, leadership development, and retention through the effective administration and enhancement of the University's fraternity and sorority community. This position provides leadership, advising, educational programming, and operational support to fraternities, sororities, governing councils, and affiliated organizations. Arkansas Tech is home to eleven (11) Greek-letter organizations, two governing councils, and the Greek honor society, Order of Omega. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Advise and support fraternity and sorority organizations, governing councils, and Order of Omega in organizational development, strategic planning, goal setting, and implementation of initiatives. Serve as the primary advisor to the fraternity and sorority community, providing guidance on chapter operations, leadership transitions, programming, recruitment, and membership processes. Coordinate and oversee fraternity and sorority event registration processes, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. Develop and facilitate educational programs, leadership initiatives, and co-curricular experiences that promote student learning, personal growth, leadership development, and member engagement. Monitor and manage budgets associated with fraternity and sorority governing councils, Order of Omega, and Campus Life initiatives. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with chapter advisors, alumni volunteers, and national headquarters staff to strengthen organizational support and student success. Utilize assessment strategies, student feedback, and data analysis to evaluate programs, identify trends, assess learning outcomes, and support continuous improvement efforts. Create and maintain marketing, communication, and outreach materials that promote fraternity and sorority life, leadership opportunities, student involvement, and University initiatives. Assist organizations in understanding and complying with university policies and procedures and serve as a conduct advisor when assigned. Encourage fraternity and sorority members to engage in broader campus involvement opportunities, traditions, programs, and events. Represent the fraternity and sorority community at orientation programs, involvement fairs, leadership events, recognition ceremonies, and other University functions. Supervise, train, and evaluate graduate assistants, practicum students, and other student staff assigned to fraternity and sorority life initiatives. Maintain accurate records related to chapter operations, leadership rosters, events, participation, budgets, organizational standing, and community statistics. Maintain fraternity and sorority web content and digital resources, ensuring information remains current, accurate, and accessible. Participate in departmental, divisional, and University committees, projects, and initiatives as assigned. Stay informed regarding national trends, emerging issues, professional standards, and best practices within fraternity and sorority life and higher education. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. Perform other duties as assigned. Periodic evening and weekend work is required to effectively administer programs and support student engagement activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Working knowledge of fraternity and sorority organizational structures and governing bodies. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to build relationships, foster student development, and support inclusive and engaging learning environments. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Demonstrated professional experience or significant collegiate involvement with fraternities and sororities. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or a related field. Knowledge of National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) policies, procedures, and best practices. Experience with fraternity and sorority recruitment, membership education, and organizational development. Experience with risk management, hazing prevention, student conduct, and event planning. Experience advising student organizations and student leaders. Experience developing and facilitating leadership, educational, or student engagement programs. Demonstrated ability to mediate conflict, facilitate challenging conversations, and support students through organizational and interpersonal concerns. Proven ability to create and maintain collaborative, innovative, and student-centered environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn institutional software systems and technology platforms. Main Campus, Russellville, Arkansas Maintain regular office hours in the Department of Campus Life, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Periodic evening and weekend work is required to support programs, student activities, meetings, and special events. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
