50% of regional net profits About Checkmate Academy Checkmate Academy is a rapidly growing after-school chess provider, currently operating programs at more than 100 schools across multiple states. We partner with elementary and middle schools to provide engaging after-school chess programs that help students build confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. As we continue expanding across the United States, we are looking for ambitious college-age students to become Regional Directors and help build Checkmate Academy in new markets. About the Role This is not a traditional part-time job. As a Regional Director, you will take ownership of Checkmate Academy's operations within your local region and receive 50% of the net profits generated by that region . We are specifically looking for college students and recent graduates who are entrepreneurial, highly motivated, and interested in gaining real experience building and managing a business. You will work directly with Checkmate Academy's leadership team while taking responsibility for developing school partnerships, recruiting instructors, and managing programs throughout your territory. Responsibilities Develop relationships with elementary schools, middle schools, private schools, PTAs, and other local organizations Introduce Checkmate Academy's after-school chess programs to prospective school partners Manage outreach and follow up with school administrators Help establish new school partnerships and programs Recruit, interview, and onboard local chess instructors Build and manage a reliable regional instructor team Coordinate instructor schedules and school assignments Maintain relationships with existing school partners Ensure programs are appropriately staffed throughout the semester Resolve local scheduling and operational issues Identify opportunities to expand into additional schools and communities Work directly with Checkmate Academy leadership on regional growth Compensation Regional Directors receive 50% of the net profits generated by their region . This means your earning potential grows directly alongside the number and success of the programs you build. Rather than receiving a fixed hourly wage, Regional Directors have the opportunity to build a recurring income stream by developing school partnerships and successfully managing their territory. Who We're Looking For We are primarily looking for college-age students and recent graduates who want hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, management, business development, or education.
Strong candidates are:
Entrepreneurial and self-motivated Highly responsible and able to work independently Comfortable reaching out to schools and building professional relationships Organized and capable of managing multiple programs Strong communicators Comfortable recruiting and managing a team Familiar with their local community Interested in education, chess, business, or entrepreneurship Able to take initiative without constant supervision You do not need to be an expert chess player. Experience with startups, student organizations, sales, tutoring, education, recruiting, youth programs, or chess is helpful but not required. Why Join Checkmate Academy? Schedule The position is flexible and much of the work can be completed remotely. Regional Directors should live within or near the territory they manage and be available to occasionally visit local schools or meet with instructors. Some availability during weekday business hours is important because most school administrators work during those hours.
