DESCRIPTION
The Coordinator, Honors Institute assists with planning and logistics of department events. Assists with presentations to current and prospective honors students throughout the enrollment and advising process and coordinates all administrative processes related to the Grindle Honors Institute. Collaborates with campus constituents to support the Honors Institute. Promotes community awareness of educational programs and courses offered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with logistical planning and other aspects of Honors Institute events, including social media, room reservations, promotion, and related activities. Prepares marketing packages for partnerships with local educational institutions and organizations. Participates and assists at local conferences, meetings, and other Honors events. Team lead for Federal Work Study and volunteers, including onboarding, work scheduling, mentoring, coaching, training, and development. Assists with conducting and obtaining reports on research and trends on student needs, issues, and enrollment to leadership for developing annual strategic plan and goals. Assists individual students with information related to admissions, course schedule, enrollment and/or dual enrollment, and course registration processes. Maintains, monitors, and reports on enrollment status and academic progress of the Honors and STEM Certificate students. Coordinates with other departments, building course schedules, adopting textbooks, facilitating faculty credentialing, and related activities. Creates, maintains, and updates Honors alumni database with current contact and related information. Maintains and updates Honors Handbook and Honors Newsletter and other Honors promotional materials. 11. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution. Two years of experience working within the education setting, preferably at a high school or a postsecondary institution.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. One year of experience working with Honors students or in an Honors Program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong ability to relate effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members. Ability to understand student's needs and issues in higher education. Knowledge of state college philosophy and system of higher education. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, as well as critical thinking ability. Excellent Microsoft 365 skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to become proficient with videoconferencing applications, including Teams/Zoom. Ability to become proficient using PeopleSoft, such as running queries. Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity. Committed to working in a multicultural environment. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
: Works in a campus office environment. May need to occasionally work flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends. May be required to travel to and from college campuses and other local destinations.
