This role facilitates academic programming, provides career guidance, and assists with life skills development. The Education Coordinator also plays a key role in organizing career experiences events for college and career exploration, cross-training in supportive services, and fostering partnerships with service providers for participant support and referrals. Essential Functions Academic Functions Facilitate programming and engage participants in academics. Support participant access to Penn Foster, My Path, Get Your Edge and other internet-based learning tools. Mentor and coach participants in career readiness, life skills, and academic development. Assist in delivering classroom-based curricula, including digital portfolio development, project-based learning, financial literacy, career readiness, and life skills. Reinforce math and reading concepts introduced in the construction and healthcare programs. Ensure academic integrity is maintained at all times. Assist participants in preparing for post-secondary education, including college entrance exams, FAFSA completion, and identifying academic programs aligned with their career interests. Organize and lead career experience events to colleges and other academic institutions, providing participants with insights into various career pathways and post-secondary options. Coordinate tutoring services and assist with literacy and numeracy assessments to support participant academic growth. Career Pathways Education Participate in career assessments and assist in developing individual service plans for participants. Support the delivery of career pathway curricula, helping participants explore and navigate potential career options. Assist participants in navigating career pathway education during the transition phase and in setting realistic career goals. Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Education and Career Access team to coordinate work placements and exposure to career environments. Program and Administrative Responsibilities Assist in various aspects of programming and support, including coordinating special events and activities. Support the YouthBuild Program Team in daily administrative activities, including scheduling, phone calls, organization, travel arrangements, and correspondence. Participate in staff meetings and community service, outreach, and other relevant activities. Cross-train with Supportive Services to learn about participant eligibility and the enrollment process. Develop relationships with service partners to build a referral network for participants in need of external resources or specialized support. Other Responsibilities Maintain high standards for confidentiality and respect in all interactions. Engage in general administrative tasks as needed and support organizational activities. Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be capable of providing participant transport in a company van or bus, with occasional use of a personal vehicle for business and participant transportation. Represent YBLC professionally in all interactions.
