General Description and Purpose The Director of Financial Aid shall be responsible forthe overall organization andimplementation of all aspects dealing withFinancial Aid and Grants. PrimaryFunctions/Responsibilities 1.Counselingof students and parents concerning the application process, the costs ofeducation, the different alternatives for financing thecost of education, andat times, personal budgeting. 2. Administrationand management of the Title IV programs, including PellGrant, SupplementalEducational Opportunity Grant, Academic Competitiveness Grant, College WorkStudy, Plus Loan, FFEL Loans. 3.Administrationand management of the state of Kansas scholarship programs, including KansasState, Promise Act, Kansas Vocational Education,Kansas Ethnic Minority, andMilitary Service, and the Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance andFoster Child Education Assistanceprograms. 4. Administrationof the Institutional Work Study Program. 5. Administrationof the Scholarship/Grant Program forPCC and PCC Foundation and theidentification of funding sources. 6. Interpretationand implementation of Federal regulations,including staff training. 7. Implementationand management of computer systems for record keeping and processing ofapplications. 8. Conductingworkshops in area high schools for the students, parents, and counselors. 9. Developmentof student consumer,budgeting, debt management, and loan information. 10. Maintainaccurate student files on each applicant. a. requeststudentand/or parent information as needed b. performverification of student data as required by federal regulation c. packagestudent awards of financial aid d. work closelywith the Business Office on the disbursement of financial aid. 11. Preparethe annual FISAP report. 12. Act asChairperson of the Financial Assistance Committee. 13. Trackauthorizations andexpenditures of financial aid. 14. Develop andupdate consumer information and publications concerning financial aid. 15.Administration of external scholarship awards. 16. Prepare data forsingle audit and financial aid program reviews. Coordination and Accountability Tasks 1. Assimilationof data and reports concerning the financial aid programs fortheVice-President of Finance and Operations, the President and the Board ofTrustees. 2. Responsibility to answer audits andprogram reviews. 3. Work closelywith, coordinate with, and provide information to the Pratt Community CollegeFoundation Board. 4. Develop and maintain financial aid policies and practices for thecollege. 5. Undertakeresearch, prepare studies,reports and recommendations concerning financial aidpolicies and practices for the college. 6. As assigned by Vice-President ofFinance & Operations. Supervises the Following Staff 1. Financial Aid Counselor 2. Financial Aid Clerk 3. Any work studystudents as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and other Characteristics Knowledge of federalregulations concerning all aspects of financial aid. Experience 1. Two yearsexperience in administering federalaid programs preferably at the college level preferred. 2. Two years experience in business oraccounting-related field or experience in college financial aid office required. 3. Strong computer skills including experiencewith Word, Excel, database, and computerized accounting systems required. Education 1. Bachelor's degreeinBusiness Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred. 2. Master's degreepreferred. Certifications and/orLicensure None Work Conditions/Environment Office setting. Other Positionmay require evening and/or weekend work.
