Posting Details Posting Summary Position Number 6086-0000-0000-924 Classification Title Director of Educational Opportunity Center (OC) TRIO Working Title Director of EOC Division Student Affairs Department/Unit Student Affairs Section Student Affairs (section) Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division aids, directs and informs students about services and programs that will expand students' educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities. The Division is responsible for many of the outside the classroom/off campus aspects of student life at ECSU, including student engagement and leadership, career services, student disability services, residential life, student activities, community standards, special programs and services, student health and wellness, and counseling services. The objective of the Educational Opportunity Center at Elizabeth City State University is to increase the number of low-income, first-generation adults who enroll in postsecondary institutions within seven counties in Northeastern North Carolina. These seven counties include Beaufort, Chowan, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrell, and Washington. Description of Work The Director of EOC provides leadership and vision in administering a comprehensive range of services related to carrying out the goals and objectives of EOC Services funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The director reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position Proven fiscal management skills and budgetary experience; Familiarity with college admissions and financial aid requirements; Public relations skills and advocate for disadvantaged students;Proven ability to gain the respect of the low-income and external constituent community. Minimum Training and Experience Master's degree required in Education, Public School Administration, Social Services, Guidance and Counseling, Education Administration, or related fields, and work experiences; Two years of experience as an administrator of federal grant funded or related programs, and experience designing, managing and implementing similar programs; Knowledge of and two years' experience working with low-income, first generation students from diverse backgrounds; Knowledge and/or experience working in a collegiate environment; Proven fiscal management skills and budgetary experience; Familiarity with college admissions and financial aid requirements; Public relations skills and advocate for disadvantaged students; Proven ability to gain the respect of the low-income and external constituent community; Preference given to individuals who have overcome similar academic, economic and cultural obstacles as the target population. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Management Preferences Preference given to individuals who have overcome similar academic, economic and cultural obstacles as the target population.
