Organization:
The College of Business and Economics at Fayetteville State University is seeking applicants for a Business Counselor in the Veterans Business Outreach Center ( VBOC ). The VBOC provides assistance, counseling, training, mentoring, and referral services to transitioning service members, veterans, service-disabled veterans, and reservists, as well as military spouses who desire to start or expand a business. Primary Purpose of the
Position:
Assist veterans and their spouses with starting or growing their businesses by counseling, training, and referral services. Teach B2B/Reboot training; Provide confidential business counseling to clients in different areas of small business; Maintain well-documented client files and enter all client activities in Neoserra; Instruct other training courses as needed; Participate in outreach events to promote
FSU VBOC
; Develop and sustain relationships with key resource partners and organizations to make appropriate referrals to those resources if needed. This position is funded by non-state funds and has been designated time limited. Continuation of this position is contingent upon the continuing availability of those funds.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and one year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Knowledge of the VBOC program area(s). Ability to keep current with developments and trends in areas(s) of expertise. Ability to coordinate and administer program(s)/project(s), activities, and protocols. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends if necessary. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other offices. Ability to assess and find solutions to complicated technical issues. Ability to multi-task, follow through on assigned projects, and work in a fast-paced environment and as a team member. Must have interpersonal skills to work with diverse staff and student body.
Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree and three years of work experience as a business owner, officer, manager, or program administrator. Special Instructions to
