CSTEP (Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program) is a New York State Department of Education grant-funded program. The goal of CSTEP is to increase the number of students from under-represented groups who are pursuing professional licensure and careers in mathematics, science, technology, and health-related fields. CSTEP provides academic enrichment and co-curricular experiences to students pursuing STEM and professional programs. The Director is responsible for the comprehensive administration and strategic direction of the CSTEP program, ensuring alignment with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) goals and regulations. The Director leads and coordinates efforts toward program development, compliance, student support, budget management, and institutional collaboration. For more information about CSTEP programs in NYSED, please click here. Key Duties and Responsibilities 1. Program Administration and Compliance Ensure program compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) CSTEP goals, regulations, and procedures. Maintain open communication with the NYSED Program Officer. Coordinate the collection and compilation of data for NYSED and university-mandated reports. Complete and submit interim and final reports to NYSED promptly. Work collaboratively with institutional offices (e.g., Finance, Grants, and Sponsored Programs) to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate reporting. Report directly to the Assistant Vice President of Student Success, with dotted line to the Office of the Provost. 2. Budget and Grant Management Manage the program budget per NYSED grant guidelines and university policies. Work with finance and administrative staff to ensure appropriate allocation and tracking of funds. 3. Academic and Co-Curricular Program Development Coordinate co-curricular programming and activities with department chairs, faculty advisors, Student Life, and Career Development. Collaborate with the CSTEP Advisory Board, Faculty Coordinator, and Faculty Advisors to develop, plan, and implement academic and career development programming, including seminars, workshops, mentoring, and career conferences. 4. Student Development and Support Recruit and admit eligible undergraduate and graduate students into the program. Assist students with identifying and applying for scholarships, internships, and financial support. Support students in selecting and applying to graduate and professional programs in STEM, health-related, and licensed professions. Coordinate on-site and off-site student internships, shadowing, and research opportunities. 5. Regional and Statewide Engagement Collaborate with CSTEP and STEP Directors in the Mid-Hudson Region. Participate in statewide

committees and initiatives. Coordinate student participation in the CSTEP Statewide Student Conference and plan CSTEP-sponsored conferences such as Mentoring and STEM Career Conferences. 6. Program Evaluation and Professional Development Evaluate program effectiveness through data collection and continuous improvement practices. Participate in professional development opportunities, such as APACS conferences and NYSED-sponsored trainings. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a CSTEP-related field, public administration, or a related discipline. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in higher education, program administration, or grant-funded programs. Demonstrated experience with budget oversight and regulatory compliance. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in STEM education. Preferred Master's Degree in CSTEP-related field, public administration, or a related discipline. Experience and knowledge of student opportunity programs preferred.
