DEAN OF STUDENTS
The Director of School Culture is primarily responsible for cultivating and maintaining transformational school culture, and building the capacity of staff throughout the school. Because school culture is the bedrock of community, connection, and student growth and development, this role is critical to both the short-term and long-term success of Explorers Academy of Science and Technology (EAST). They will be inspiring, clear, direct and transparent in communicating expectations and roles, and provide thoughtful and consistent support and coaching to team members to help them achieve their potential. This role requires a blend of systems-thinking, people-centered leadership, and consistent, organized execution. They lead through a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, know how to invest others in a bold school culture vision, and can design and facilitate training that build critical mindsets and tangible skill sets so that staff can implement that vision with a high level of success and ensure breakthrough outcomes for our students.
Role and Responsibilities Leadership Mission Driven:
Demonstrate a sense of urgency about achievement for ALL students and preparing every student for four-year college. Pursue solutions with tenacity that maximize student achievement. Lead planning, implementation, and achievement of key strategic priorities, consistent with school vision - such as, but not limited to, student attendance, student enrollment, school-wide school culture systems and procedures, and student discipline. Part of multiple cross functional teams such as school leadership, school culture, mental health, and other necessary school-based teams. Strong systems thinking, implementation, and leadership. Develops solutions to complex problems that involve multiple stakeholders and steps. Lead, development, and implement professional development. Ensure dynamic and healthy school-wide and staff teams Influences and supports positive behavior management culture. School Culture Responsible for the achievement of school culture and student experience results as defined by the Stellar Learning Consortium and Explorers Academy of Science and Technology Leadership Cultivate a strong, cohesive, and purposeful school culture that aligns with our shared mission, core values, and school culture beliefsSet and/or directly lead cultural vision Design and implement school culture systems and routinesModel and support continuous development of student culture and staff implementation and development within the school Responsible for the attendance, individual and personal values development, community connection, and appropriate/necessary needs of the school community and/or specific grade-level Responsible for data-based reporting and informed decision making - transparent regular weekly/monthly review and action Collaborate with school staff to maximize the ability of the school to support students' academic, individual, and collective development. Manage and track progress on individualized behavior plans for students to ensure we are meeting the needs of all students in the community (e.g. BIP, other targeted/intensive support) Lead and manage necessary discipline systems and actions Lead, take action, and ensure strong response to actions of harm in the school community (e.g. Title IX, TA, SRR, SI, Critical Incidents, and other necessary responses) Lead and manage celebrations of student and academy success Family and Community Engagement Maintain communication and relations with the families of the school, ensuring they are kept involved with and held accountable for their children's academic and behavioral performance Continually promote and bridge the relationship with parents and community that bolsters higher levels of participation, partnership, and responsibility in the areas of parent engagement and student learning Respond to family concerns promptly and effectively Additional Duties If applicable: 504 Coordinator and other necessary roles within 504 process Lead, manage, and implement school-wide MTSS system Lead, manage, or directly run before/ after school, and/or Saturday activities, student learning, or student intervention Conduct family and student home visits Teach course(s) within the school Act as a student advisor for a group of students Instructional leadership, coaching and/or support Other assigned duties
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's degree Highly Preferred Experience leading and/or teaching in diverse communities, and in particular working with children from low-income backgrounds, to achieve exceptional results in academics, sports, the arts, community service, etc. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. LOCATION
Toledo, Ohio Reports to Principal Compensation & Benefits Compensation will be commensurate with experience with additional health, dental, and retirement benefits.
