Department:
Center for Student Success Position Summary Gettysburg College, in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a full-time Class Advisor to join the Center for Student Success (CSS). Gettysburg College is a highly selective, residential undergraduate liberal arts college which enrolls approximately 2,200 students. This position reports to the Dean of Academic Advising and Student Success. The Class Advisor & Honor Code Coordinator provides ongoing support and guidance for a class year of students through their time at Gettysburg. Depending on qualifications and interest, this individual may also be tasked with administration of Honor Code cases.
Specific responsibilities include:
Advise students in one class year through their time at Gettysburg College (e.g., Class of 2027). Mentor students who face academic challenges through the Academic Improvement Plans. Together with the Dean of Academic Advising and Student Success, provide strategic direction and create effective student/faculty relationships in support of an institutional culture of academic integrity. Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including attending regular meetings within Academic Affairs and College Life & Institutional Operations divisions and participating in related college and division planning committees and work groups. Prepare and execute faculty and student workshops and training as needed. Depending on qualifications, this individual may also manage day-to-day administration of Gettysburg's student-led Honor Code process (receive reports, schedule and administer hearings, follow-up, data management, etc.). After-hours on-call responsibilities may be incorporated into this position for additional compensation only if the candidate is interested. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Counseling, Student Affairs, Higher Education or related field, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Two to three years of direct experience in the development and implementation of student advising, academic support services, and/or other transferrable experiences. Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills. Must have a genuine desire and ability to work with and relate to students. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork on behalf of the Dean, the Center, and both divisions of Academic Affairs and College Life & Institutional Operations.
Preferred:
experience with administration of student disciplinary processes (e.g., conduct, academic integrity, Honor Code) with a focus on restorative practices. Special Instructions Summary Review of application materials will begin August 28 and continue until the position is filled.
