Position Summary:
The Assistant Director will support the Campus Director by coordinating operational and academic needs of the campus related to meeting state and local requirements including support services, testing, attendance, facilities, and academic requirements. The Assistant Director will assist the Director with the implementation of the academic program, discipline of students and supervision and mentoring of faculty as well as the development of a positive school culture.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited College or University, (Master's degree preferred) Teaching certificate or school administrator certificate (preferred)
Experience:
5+ years of successful teaching experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Advanced knowledge of federal and state education laws Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills Able to learn teaching curriculum software programs and instruct others on the utilization Ability to understand the individual needs of each student and train others on the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) Clear understanding of goal setting for students and the individualized approach Ability to communicate with all levels of students, parents, teachers, the community, and home office staff Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results, state assessments scoring, transcripts, and grade point average
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assists with supervision of employees as directed in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Interviews, assists in hiring, and training employees Assists in planning, assigning and directing work. Assists in appraising the performance of staff, rewards and disciplines employees according to school policies and procedures, and addresses and resolves complaints and problems. Advocates, nurtures, and sustains a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth. Assists in ensuring the management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment. Collaborates with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources. Understands, responds to, and influences the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context of the assigned student population. Assists with evaluating educational program to ensure conformance to state and school board standards. Acts with fairness and in an ethical manner. Assists with coordinating educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teachers' activities, and issuance of directives. Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and all other duties as assigned
