Job Description
Assistant Registrar Full-time Under the general direction of the University Registrar, the Assistant Registrar provides general office assistance, academic advising support, and customer service for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities Maintains student records in the Jenzabar student information system and a variety of software, as well as in hard-copy files, in accordance with FERPA and university confidentiality policies Provides customer service for parents, students, faculty, and other university departments by fielding questions, directing calls to the correct person or office, and similar tasks Works with students to help them understand and track their graduation requirements Provides general academic advising to students on course selection, registration, and academic planning Interprets and explains academic policies and procedures to students, helping them understand how university requirements apply to their individual academic situations Supports international students throughout the application and enrollment process, and communicates relevant regulatory requirements as needed Prepares Veterans' Administration reports Processes transcript requests Composes enrollment or degree verification letters and other general correspondence Assists the Registrar in evaluating transcripts for prospective and current students Performs special duties during graduation each year Leads and serves the University and staff by example in supporting the mission, rules, and policies of the University, as well as through strong work ethic and overall job performance Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associate degree or some college coursework required; Bachelor's degree preferred Experience working in education and/or a fast-paced professional environment preferred At least one year of general office experience preferred Strong oral and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to use and learn new software programs (knowledge of Jenzabar preferred) Applications Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references to Human Resources at hr@svu.edu .
