An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work on site. 7.5 hours per day; 250 days/year Multiple vacancies will be filled from this posting.

JOB SUMMARY

This is a skilled, first-line supervisory position serving as a communicative link between Transportation staff, school administrators and community members. Assists with the development of schedules and directs daily school bus operations. Responsible for responding to and reporting emergency situations. Provides supervision, guidance, training, and assistance to school bus drivers and attendants to ensure bus operations are in compliance with state laws, School Division policies and regulations, and Transportation Department operating procedures. Required to operate a school bus. Essential Responsibilities Specific to This Job Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned drivers and attendants; host regularly scheduled zone meetings Investigate and resolve problems with school administrators, parents, students, the general public, drivers, and attendants Observe on-road performance of drivers and attendants as it relates to safety and compliance with schedules, routes, and times; and if needed, give instructions to correct improper performance practices Communicate with school administrators, staff, parents, and citizens to resolve issues, concerns, and questions regarding pupil transportation questions and services Monitor the accuracy of bus operation records and reports Assist with planning, coordinating, and revising bus schedules and routes; and monitors bus schedules and routes using computerized routing and modeling tools to assist in the development and updating of efficient and effective bus routes Evaluate, select, and monitor bus stops to ensure the highest degree of safety Establish and adjust drivers' and attendants' base hours determined by actual time required to satisfactorily complete assignments. Verify and validate time and leave records Assist with assigning field, athletic, and community-based instruction trips to drivers and attendants in accordance with established guidelines Investigate and complete documentation for Workers' Compensation Claims and School Board vehicle crashes for the purpose of improving procedures and complying with established safety guidelines Familiarize school bus drivers and attendants with the features of buses and bus equipment, including special equipment, and child safety restraint systems Investigate and analyze both routine and emergency situations and recommend effective solutions Perform the Administrative Coordinator's duties and responsibilities when the coordinator is absent Remove and view digital recording media for investigatory and evaluation purposes Assist in the development and implementation of new programs and/or operating procedures Assist with interviewing applicants for school bus driver and attendant positions and make recommendations to hire Validate skills and abilities of drivers and attendants Participate in meetings, in-service training, conferences, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to grow professionally Conduct training classes for the purpose of presenting, reinforcing, and/or developing drivers' and attendants' skills Serve as a substitute bus driver or attendant as required Complete other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors General knowledge of School Division and Transportation Department policies, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of federal, state, and local legal requirements and guidelines of pupil transportation. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of basic computer functions and computerized routing programs. Ability to provide leadership and foster good human relations with school administrators, parents, employees, and staff members dealing fairly, impartially, and tactfully. Ability to recognize problems, potential problem areas, and provide problem-solving assistance. Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimum supervision. Willingness to perform duties that may not be specifically listed, but are within the general occupation areas of responsibility and level. Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment. Education or Equivalency Requirements

• Minimum High School or GED

• Preferred Associate Degree Work Experience Requirements CDL required with 2 years of bus driving and supervisory experience OR 5 years' experience in transportation operations (dispatch, routing, scheduling, fleet management, etc.) with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience and CDL attainment within 6 months required. Certification and License Requirements Must posses and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License Class with the appropriate endorsements. Must possess and maintain a valid medical physical. Must possess and maintain American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificates within six months of employment. Must possess and maintain a Defensive Driving Course certificate no later than within six months of employment.

Pay:

$66,410.00

•$106,340.00 per year
